Moving With Awe

Moving With Awe

During a time of deep intercession following our Sunday service a friend approached me for prayer. Her first words were expressing thanks to God for what He had done in her life the last time we prayed together. With tears she recounted that her life was completely different, that God had “mostly” healed her once crippling depression and she was overflowing with gratitude. Upon hearing the words “mostly” my spirit leapt and I responded: “let’s dip you in the river again!”  Immediately as we agreed in prayer the Lord begin to do a new thing. I watched Him unlock a destiny which had been buried by the depression she had faced. He began to free her to stand in captivating awe of Him. His hand began to stir a sense of wonder in her spirit and, as He stirred, artistic, creative gifts became unlocked and freed. It was as though she was learning something new about herself.

In this moment we are being trained to stand in awe, to worship in awe and to remain in a place of awe so that His Kingdom may be established.

”When the Red Sea saw you, O God, its waters looked and trembled! The sea quaked to its very depths. The clouds poured down rain; the thunder rumbled in the sky. Your arrows of lightning flashed. Your thunder roared from the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world! The earth trembled and shook. Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters— a pathway no one knew was there! You led your people along that road like a flock of sheep, with Moses and Aaron as their shepherds.“

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭77‬:‭16‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Descriptively this worship song sings of the moment in time when God opened the first ancient  door! This particular door had been closed since the dawn of time! Can you imagine God opening new doors and pathways they have been sealed since the beginning?

Think of what this could mean for us in this the year of the “open door”? Will new pathways be revealed to us which have been blocked, invisible, or closed since the dawn of time? What will they lead to?!

Leading them forward the people required instruction otherwise they would’ve remained on the wrong side of the Red Sea captivated by amazement! The prophetic voice of God guides, leads and instructs so that we respond accordingly. Without prophetic leadership the path would have been useless because no one would’ve known what to do!

Standing on the other side of this ancient door, Moses led the people to lift their voices in a song of awe to God. Immediately following this, Miriam prophetically stood up and grabbing her tambourine elevated the worship to an even higher place leading the women in celebration dance of awe.

Worship burst forth celebrating not only what He did but how He chose to do it! Moses the prophet taught them what to do with their awe of God in song and then Miriam the prophetess showed them how to elevate their awe in deep worship!

Whatever side of God you study, meditate on, look for, or think about is exactly the side of Him you will see at work in your own life. Today He longs for us to think of Him as the Miracle Working God!

Stop what you’re doing right now! Stop and think back! Remember every miracle you’ve ever experienced. Think of stories you’ve read in scripture. Imagine would it would look like to see someone stand to their feet after being paralyzed. All of a sudden their legs began to work! Imagine witnessing someone seeing for the first time in their lives as they learn how to see! Let your thoughts drift to all that The Creator is capable of!

Let Heaven make a record in your life story that you took time today to be in awe of God!

The fear of the Lord is all around us as all of creation can sense God is about to reveal an enormous move. The enemy is looking around in all directions panicking not knowing where it will take place!

We are being positioned to witness an awe inspiring move of divine intervention.
