“For Her Who Was Called Barren”
On Sunday as the musical phase “get up, get up, get up, get up out of that grave” was echoing throughout our sanctuary, a friend definitively stated: “I think everyone is out of the grave by now”. Immediately this struck a chord in my spirit as I knew it was the voice of God for the church. I asked “what’s the next step?” Suddenly the revelation came that the church of Christ in America has made a move! God’s people are awake!
”Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.“
Luke 1:36 NKJV
“For her who was called barren”. Reading these words ignited celebratory sirens to begin ringing in my spirit and I considered what it would be like to be resigned and settled in one reality only to suddenly discover that you are in the middle of something extraordinary!
Currently we are in the midst of great transformation both personally and corporately. You may find yourself tired and grouchy one day and overflowing with Kingdom zeal the next. These are symptoms of the stretching of this movement. The pull of the old is aching while the draw of the new is empowering!
Many are excited but don’t fully realize the magnitude what is taking place!
For many in scripture God’s greatest reward was bestowed and experienced in their old age. A last minute blessing! As you look around at the condition of society and how far the masses have fallen from the standards of God it may seem as though it’s too late! Fortunately we have the stories of Sarah and Elizabeth to fuel our faith to press toward the hopes of Heaven for our people!
”Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children.“
Isaiah 66:8 NKJV
Meditate on the story of creation. Remember today that God makes all things new! He alone can create, redeem, deliver, shift and establish! Consider what this could mean to you.
