A Time To Gather Vessels
“And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.””
2 Kings 4:3-4 NLT
Prophetically we have reached a similar point in time. Let’s evaluate this story.
Instructions came from God to prepare for increase! For some the borrowing of “vessels” would resemble taking out a loan in order to expand a business. For others it’s time for you to begin discipling and pouring into newer believers or those beginning to emerge in spiritual gifts and calls. Gather believers in your home and let the “oil” flow.
In this a season of gathering vessels for the Lord to fill, you will have to seek out your portion. This may mean something different to each of you. Notice the Lord gave specifications regarding how this process was to be conducted.
This story speaks of God gathering the family and pouring out blessings on the family unit. He is moving to bless bloodlines, reviving family businesses, and reverse fortunes!
With a sense of desperation the widow and her children entered the secret place. Many are desperate for a move of God, eager for the next thing. As you seek God with desperation in this moment, you are pressing into a greater outpouring on your life in which you must be prepared to steward.
“Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing.”
2 Kings 4:6 NLT
Notice there was a beginning and an end to the flow of oil. Gloriously we are entering a beginning of the flow of “oil”.
“When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.””
2 Kings 4:7 NLT
Moving from recovery to thriving, this family lived on oil from borrowed vessels! From a business sense this is easily understood but what about ministry?
As long as you continue to move with God, keeping the pace of Heaven, and running with the “horsemen”, vessels will collect in your path in order that you might pour out the “oil” of the spirit into each one. A continued flow.
Listening to the Holy Spirit I feel an urgency to safeguard and protect developing and emerging prophetic voices whether they be children or adults. Requiring a nurturing spiritual atmosphere these vessels are set to reach overflow but we must guard the atmosphere.
“Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.”
1 Chronicles 4:10 NLT
Ask the Lord in which direction to spread out and which vessels to gather in order to hold the increase. The oil is beginning to flow. It cannot be stopped.
