Last week I was sitting on the couch in my den watching a movie with my husband and the Lord struck me with this revelation “be like David and refuse to listen to the threats of the enemy”. The following is the entire prophetic revelation:
“The Philistines now mustered their army for battle and camped between Socoh in Judah and Azekah at Ephes-dammim. Saul countered by gathering his Israelite troops near the valley of Elah. So the Philistines and Israelites faced each other on opposite hills, with the valley between them.”
1 Samuel 17:1-3 NLT
The enemy had set up their camp right in front of God’s people facing them. This is what we are seeing today. The enemy has set up a camp right in our faces. He has not built permanent structures at this point it is temporary for as long as we tolerate it.
“Then Goliath, a Philistine champion from Gath, came out of the Philistine ranks to face the forces of Israel. He was over nine feet tall! He wore a bronze helmet, and his bronze coat of mail weighed 125 pounds. He also wore bronze leg armor, and he carried a bronze javelin on his shoulder. The shaft of his spear was as heavy and thick as a weaver’s beam, tipped with an iron spearhead that weighed 15 pounds. His armor bearer walked ahead of him carrying a shield.”
1 Samuel 17:4-7 NLT
The intimidating threat presented itself. He was huge, towering over the tallest man and protected by tank like, impenetrable armor. His weapons seemed no match for the soldiers of God. Our current enemy looks a lot like this. He appears to be united, weaponized and securely protected. This enemy suddenly showed up on the scene and forced his will upon Gods people while they stood frozen in shock.
“Goliath stood and shouted a taunt across to the Israelites. “Why are you all coming out to fight?” he called. “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul. Choose one man to come down here and fight me! If he kills me, then we will be your slaves. But if I kill him, you will be our slaves! I defy the armies of Israel today! Send me a man who will fight me!” When Saul and the Israelites heard this, they were terrified and deeply shaken.”
1 Samuel 17:8-11 NLT
Right now this is where we are. The enemy is yelling threats at us from across the way. The Lord would say to you today “remember this story and don’t be moved by his threats”. Many times in my life I’ve faced a possible threat looming in the distance and God taught me to praise Him for the simple fact that it had not yet arrived. It is not here yet! We still walk in freedom. Praise God for the peace and stillness of this moment in time while we wait upon the Lord. This is a Psalm 23 moment where God has set a feast of glory before us in the presence of our enemies. They watch in torment while we feast with the Master. Do not be like Hannah who couldn’t enjoy the double portion feast because she was dismayed by a hope that had not yet come to pass. Partake of the feast, stand with strength and wait on the Lord with peace ruling your spirit. Even now God knows the location of the weakness and what will bring the giant down!
“One day Jesse said to David, “Take this basket of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread, and carry them quickly to your brothers. And give these ten cuts of cheese to their captain. See how your brothers are getting along, and bring back a report on how they are doing.””
1 Samuel 17:17-18 NLT
I encourage you to be like David. While others were frozen in fear David was bringing sustenance to strengthen the army of God. Let that be your focus, to rally the troops!
“David asked the soldiers standing nearby, “What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?””
1 Samuel 17:26 NLT
David was called by God to leadership and thus he saw the situation differently. David could only see this situation one way. The children of the Most High God were facing an opponent that was so insignificant compared to The Lord Almighty that he was nothing more than a stepping stone propelling them into their purpose. With that understanding David ran out to the giant seeing him as a means to a great reward!
Take a moment to consider the things in your life that have tried to steal your peace, distract you, rob you of restful sleep at night, taunt or intimidate you and one by one compare them to Almighty God and His promises of greatness, abundance and purpose for your life and that of your children. Hold each one up against that standard then see that you are facing them because you are called to conquer them!
Be like David and let your faith in the power of God arise and dominate your realities in the natural.
Incredible insight! Wow God! Thank you 🙌🙌
Thank God and you for this insight!! We are seeing God’s handiwork come to pass.
