Have you even considered what harvest season might be like for the laborers? Harvest can be a difficult, frustrating time because the work is repetitive and life can seem mundane. It’s especially challenging for someone like me who loves constant change. I approached the entrance to this season determined to keep the joy of Heaven bound to my soul at all times. God has promised us joy in the harvest and a “rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10). I began to notice when other elements tried to embed themselves in my spirit and I’ve learned to forbid them by name and cast them out. Things like fear, dread, worry, doubt, dismay, and condemnation. This are forces that war against the hope and victory of Heaven you are called to carry in your soul at all times. God has hidden this great treasure in us and it is what everyone around us needs.
“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.”
II Corinthians 4:6-7 NKJV
We are learning in this season to fight to hold onto this, preserve it and allow it to increase in us so we have the power to spread it!
This morning the Lord brought me again to Mordecai and caused me to consider his story. The end of his story results in promotion:
“King Xerxes imposed a tribute throughout his empire, even to the distant coastlands. His great achievements and the full account of the greatness of Mordecai, whom the king had promoted, are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Media and Persia. Mordecai the Jew became the prime minister, with authority next to that of King Xerxes himself. He was very great among the Jews, who held him in high esteem, because he continued to work for the good of his people and to speak up for the welfare of all their descendants.”
Esther 10:1-3 NLT
What did Mordecai really do to earn this promotion which he held for the rest of his life after this very intense moment in time? Did he return to school for more education to qualify him to run a kingdom? No. His qualifications came from depending on God completely as the his only source and listening for His voice ready to obey. His time of intercession at the king’s gate during the greatest trial his people had ever faced changed him forever and by the time God promoted him he was fully prepared to do the job.
Harvest time is when the angels come to reap what has been sown. How are you preparing for promotion?
