Asaph’s Lament Transformed Into A Sword of Worship

Asaph’s Lament Transformed Into A Sword of Worship

The point where the battle begins to turn….

“I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help. Interlude”
Psalms 77:3 NLT

These words represent the heart’s cry of one of the first great worship leaders in God’s Temple. He wasn’t turning away from God, to whom else could he turn? He was instead turning in his frustration to God.

“Has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never again be kind to me? Is his unfailing love gone forever? Have his promises permanently failed? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he slammed the door on his compassion? Interlude”
Psalms 77:7-9 NLT

Many can relate to these expressions of hope deferred. We are in an extended battle season. Your Spirit Man is increasing in strength whether you realize it or not.

Obviously we will all have had similar moments in recent days. Instead of burying your feelings express them to God as Asaph did and commence movement beyond the temptation to give in the desolation.

“But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.”
Psalms 77:11-12 NLT

This is a powerful key to sustaining your peace, maintaining your position and refraining the hand of the enemy! Look back over your life and remember God’s goodness! Ask Holy Spirit to usher you through a tour your history stopping at each junction to rejoice in God’s mercy. In the recollection let faith in His past goodness begin to arise and nourish faith for what your future holds!

“O God, your ways are holy. Is there any god as mighty as you? You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations. By your strong arm, you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Interlude When the Red Sea saw you, O God, its waters looked and trembled! The sea quaked to its very depths. The clouds poured down rain; the thunder rumbled in the sky. Your arrows of lightning flashed. Your thunder roared from the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world! The earth trembled and shook. Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters— a pathway no one knew was there!”
Psalms 77:13-19 NLT

Powerfully Asaph begins to recount testimonies so extraordinary they were recorded in Scripture. Look what You did for Your people in days past! You are all powerful! There is none greater than You! When You begin to move the earth shakes, the enemy freezes, and all things are subject to Your will!

Remember today that God is The Way! We are pioneers of His new pathways! You may perceive an ending, a “boxed in” feeling, but if you look more closely you will witness a special path created just for you to traverse. A path that didn’t exist before but opened up by order of The King of Kings upon your arrival!

Use the keys given today in scripture and allow lament to be transformed into a sword of worship!
