La Havre, France
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”
Psalms 23:5 NKJV
Before leaving the states, The Lord impressed upon me that the table spoken of here is a movable table. It goes where I go!
France has always been dear to my heart even going back to childhood. I studied the language in elementary school, high school and even worked hard to receive a minor in French in college. It was the first language I learned which developed a love and interest in learning others. While there the Lord did what only He could graciously opening my mind allowing me to operate in this beautiful language I had studied so hard to learn and I was able to easily immerse in the culture and have conversations with everyone in French. My time there was a treasure. I met a couple from Luxembourg then another with a wife from Belgium and a husband from Tunisia celebrating a 56 wedding anniversary. They were precious people.
The entire day was adorned with crystal clear skies and bright sunshine with a gentle refreshing wind. This adorable little town with its tiny shops connected to breathtaking historical buildings each unique in its own right, and paved cobblestone streets with pockets of green exploding with lush vegetation seemed blanketed in God’s provision. Standing on the beaches at Normandy we felt the intensity of a critical point in history where the Lord stepped in and allowed His people to stop a devastating enemy. The 80th anniversary of D-Day was celebrated earlier this month. I felt so much hope spilling out from the beach covering the entire town. This moment in time caused the Allies to overthrow the Nazis and began to turn the tide of World War II. This site marked a crucial turning point in history. One can still feel the refreshing touch of God’s hand on the entire landscape.
