“He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet under him. And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest; he had no war in those years, because the Lord had given him rest.”
II Chronicles 14:5-6 NKJV
Sometimes we need to be pulled away by God from our normal lives to experience something new. One can become strong in times of rest. Growth can happen in rest. Minds can mature in rest. There is renewal in rest especially when it is combined with new experiences replacing old understandings. Rest is a gift from God and another way to fortify yourself in Him.
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
He reminded me this morning in my travel weariness that my strength comes from Him, my help comes from Him and He upholds my family.
Excitedly we boarded a rib boat bound for adventure. As we traveled along the paths of the Vikings we turned quickly to the right and left to view the breath taking fjords with rocky cliffs dripping with spectacular waterfalls while listening to historical accounts given by our tour guide.
This adventurous afternoon was a highlight of our voyage!
