On The Edge Of The Extraordinary

The Story Of The Impossible Call

On The Edge Of The Extraordinary
The Story Of The Impossible Call

“But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬-‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The story has captured a pivotal point in Joseph’s life. He was right on the edge of an extraordinary future. His story begins with a bleak disappointment believing his future was ruined. An obvious impasse. His fiancée was pregnant.  Probably deeply wounded by the apparent betrayal he sought the Lord. Heaven’s response was an angelic encounter delivering a prophecy which was too extraordinary to be fully understood at the time of its release. He was called to be part of God’s plan! Have you ever been so excited you couldn’t take it all in?

Not only would he have the future with Mary he had hoped for but God had crowned it with far greater blessing than his ability to comprehend.

“But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Prophecy should always edify, exhort and comfort! Overwhelmingly the peace of purpose flooded his spirit while he gathered his senses to understand this triumphantly jubilant future!

His spirit said yes!  Would his mind get in the way?

Currently I am reading “Signs And Wonders” by Maria Woodworth Etter.

Her story begins just after the Civil War. She was called by God to preach at a time when women were not allowed to do such things. It did not happen. After many painful years of denying the cry of her heart she finally gave in and accepted her call. Doing this enabled God to open the door for her as only He could. He revealed her authority with power, signs and wonders. Thousands were saved and healed in each of her meetings. Seeds of revival were planted and continued to flourish after she left. Her strongest opposition were the first to the altar when the call went forth!

At some point each of us must lay aside our limited understanding in order to step forward in faith.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Allowing God to transform your mind with His presence and promises brings you closer to His glorious plan making your life an illustration of His perfect will.

God could have chosen anyone to experience this extraordinary future but He chose Joseph. Accepting by faith Joseph began to take necessary steps toward destiny. With each step parts of the Heavenly dream became an earthly reality.

Today you stand between the extraordinary dream of Heaven and an average existence. Will you say “yes” by faith?
